💀Doom Scrolling is the Death of Joy

I was sitting on the couch over the holiday weekend scrolling through my social media feed when it occurred to me... I was scrolling for over 20 minutes and had yet to see a post from anyone I followed!

It was all politics or car chases or AI generate videos or 'what do you notice' posts. Posts that try to induce an emotional response of anger, hate and vitriol. Not what I'm looking for on social media, or in life.

🚫 My Gripe With Social Media (And Why I'm Starting a Private Community)

Once upon a time, Social Media was great. Was.

Gone are the days of logging into social media and enjoying a post from a friend or an uplifting video. Even posts you would disagree with led to a healthy debate. Now it's all hate-mongering, troll-baiting nonsense.

I’m not abandoning social media completely but let’s be honest: it’s no longer the place where real conversations and real communities thrive.

That’s why I’m starting up a NEW dedicated community at MedievalArchives.com/Discord our own community where your stories don’t get buried, throttled, or ignored.

Don’t worry: I’ll still post on social media. But the real community, the real engagement will be on Discord.

• Anything with a link? Instantly de-prioritized and buried.

Even the most dedicated Social Media fans admit the same thing: the feeds are clogged with spam, ads, junk posts and less of the stuff you actually want.

We deserve better.
